System and method for activating intelligent parking availability functionality

Systems and methods for activating an intelligent parking availability function are provided. Systems, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to improving the identification of available parking spaces in crowded zones. In one embodiment, a method includes, in response to receiving trajectory information regarding searching for movement of a vehicle, estimating a search time taken for the vehicle to seek for parking in a location. The method includes aggregating the search time and an observed time associated with an additional entity parked in the location when the search time satisfies a time threshold. The method includes updating the parking map according to the observation time when the observation time satisfies a parking threshold indicating that an available parking space is lacked in the location.
