According to the method, on the basis of an F1-generation sea-land hybrid material obtained by hybridizing VSG (sea island cotton semi-matching material) serving as a female parent and a common upland cotton material serving as a male parent, a 0.03-0.05% colchicine aqueous solution is used for treating F1-generation young bolls, and an F2-generation is induced to separate a stable intermediate material or new variety with excellent genes of sea island cotton and upland cotton; therefore, a new cotton germplasm resource is created.
