Embodiments of the invention provide for controlling operation of a variable tone (VT) glass system of a vehicle (1600). The control system (106) may be configured to receive an entry signal (112) comprising user identification data (102) and indicating a likelihood of a user (99) entering the vehicle; retrieving user profile data (104) indicative of a coloring configuration of the VT glass associated with the user identification data (102); and outputting a hue control signal indicating the coloring configuration to control the VT glass.
