Verification key generation in distributed network

Embodiments of the present invention relate to a computer-implemented method for generating a verification key for a public key signature scheme in a distributed network. The method includes executing, by a subset of nodes of a first sub-network of the nodes, a first distributed key generation protocol configured to jointly generate a verification key for the first sub-network and a corresponding plurality of private key shares for the nodes of the first sub-network. The method further comprises the step of executing, for the second sub-network, a second distributed key generation protocol by a subset of the plurality of nodes of the first sub-network, the second distributed key generation protocol configured to jointly generate a verification key of the second sub-network and a corresponding plurality of private key shares for the nodes of the second sub-network.
