The invention provides an endoscope and a knob locking method. An endoscope is provided with: an operation unit main body that is provided so as to be connected to an insertion unit; and a knob which is provided to the operation unit main body, is rotationally operated when an active member is operated, and locks the rotation of the knob, the rotation lock mechanism comprising: a lock button; the locking rod is connected with the locking button and extends in the knob; and a fixing member which is fixed to the operation part main body, and which locks the rotation of the knob by penetrating the lock lever through the fixing member when the lock button is pressed in. 本发明提供内窥镜及旋钮的锁定方法。内窥镜具有：操作部主体，其与插入部连接设置；以及旋钮，其设置于所述操作部主体，在操作能动部件时被转动操作，对旋钮的转动进行锁定的转动锁定机构包括：锁定按钮；锁定杆，其与锁定按钮连接，在旋钮的内部延伸设置；以及固定部件，其固定于操作部主体，在锁定按钮被压入时，通过锁定杆贯通该固定部件而锁定旋钮的转动。
