The method comprises the following steps: S1, obtaining supporting embankment parameters of the gravity type retaining wall; s2, calculating an anti-overturning stability coefficient of the retaining wall; s3, calculating an anti-overturning stability coefficient limit value of the retaining wall; and S4, comparing the anti-overturning stability coefficient of the retaining wall with the anti-overturning stability coefficient limit value, and evaluating the anti-overturning capability of the retaining wall.
