According to the invention, the rice root system elongation control gene OsCYP22 is obtained through regulation and control of deletion of the base in the DNA sequence of the gene OsCYP22. The elongation of the rice root system is regulated and controlled, so that the rice has a short root system phenomenon, and conditions can be created for rice root system improvement and cross breeding or transgenic plant development.
