A frame buffer control device controls access to a frame buffer having a plurality of layers by means of a frame buffer interface such that video data from a plurality of data streams are written into different layers of the frame buffer, the video data of a first layer having a defined color value in a first image region that varies frame by frame. The access to the frame buffer is controlled such that the first image region is determined using the defined color values, and the combined frame of video data is read from the frame buffer.
