The method comprises the following steps: mixing cobalt powder and a fluxing agent with a solid waste sample to prepare a fuse piece sample; wherein the preparation proportion of the cobalt powder is controlled to be a set proportion; establishing an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer standard curve for the fuse piece sample through an X-ray fluorescence spectrometry; and determining the total iron content in the solid waste sample according to the standard curve of the X-ray fluorescence spectrophotometer.
