Zusammenfassung: | A storage system for reversibly storing and releasing a gas, such as hydrogen, comprises storage elements, each having a storage volume, a gas-tight housing, and at least one non-fluid activation element or activation layer, the storage volume has a storage material, such as a metal-organic framework (MOF), for reversibly adsorbing or physically adsorbing a gas, and a gas-tight housing surrounding the storage volume and having a gas inlet/outlet in fluid-conducting communication with the storage volume, the non-fluid active element or active layer is configured to release gas stored in the MOF when in an active state and/or increase a release rate relative to an inactive state. The active element or active layer may surround and/or penetrate the memory material. The activation element may be controlled by an associated control device to enter an activated state.
