Synchronized playback and control of media

The invention relates to synchronized playback and control of media. Methods and systems provide for synchronous sharing of multimedia between multiple devices. The plurality of devices may form an ad hoc network for sharing multimedia. In one embodiment, group members may have playlist manipulation privileges, such as pause, back, fast forward, or adding tracks to a playlist (116). The system may stream or distribute content according to the shared playlist (116).
