Zusammenfassung:An event detection system (200) for determining the occurrence of an event in an internal combustion engine (201) is disclosed, comprising an ion current measurement circuit (107), a predetermined number of band limiter modules (203), a predetermined number of frequency domain conversion units (204), and an ion signal analyzer (206). A band limiter module (203) generates a band-filtered ionic current signal from a received ionic current signal generated during a spark event in a spark plug (106). A frequency domain conversion unit (204) converts the band-filtered ion current signal to a frequency domain to obtain a digital ion current signal. The ion analyzer analyzes the amplitude of each of the digital ion current signals using an amplitude threshold for each of the digital ion current signals to determine the occurrence of an event in the engine.
