Zusammenfassung: | Droplet interfaces are formed between droplets in an electrowetting device including an array of actuation electrodes. An actuation signal is applied to selected actuation electrodes to place the droplets in an energized state in which the shape of the droplets is changed compared to the shape of the droplets in the lower energy state and the two droplets are brought close. The actuation signal is then varied to reduce the energy of the droplets to a lower energy state such that the droplets relax into the gap and the two droplets are in contact with each other, thereby forming a droplet interface. The use of the sensing electrode in the device allows for the measurement of the current on the droplet interface. The sensing electrode may be used to (i) apply a reference signal during droplet actuation, or (ii) record a current measurement.
