Ammonia recovery method and system

The invention relates to an ammonia recovery method and system. The present disclosure provides a process comprising: treating an aqueous feed comprising an ammonium salt in a bipolar membrane electrodialysis (BPED) process to produce a first product solution comprising ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) and a second product solution comprising an acid; separating ammonia gas from the first product solution; and capturing the separated ammonia gas in an ammonia capture solution to produce an ammonia-containing solution. The present disclosure also provides a system comprising: a BPED unit that produces an ammonium hydroxide solution; a membrane-based gas separator in fluid communication with the BPED unit; and an ammonia gas capture unit in fluid communication with the gas separator.
