The method comprises the following steps: S1, variety collection: hybridizing rhododendron to obtain hybrid offspring; s2, data collection: collecting morphological data of to-be-screened azalea, and respectively determining quantitative traits and quality traits of each hybrid offspring of the azalea; and S3, calculation: calculating the variation coefficient of the quality character and the quantitative character according to the following formula: screening out the single plants with higher Cv values to finish screening.
