Nanopore support structure and fabrication thereof

Disclosed is a nanopore support structure comprising: a wall layer comprising walls defining a plurality of wells; and a pendant extending from the wall across each of the wells, the pendant defining an aperture configured to support a membrane suitable for insertion into a nanopore.
