The invention provides a fuel assembly assembling process which comprises the steps that at least one layer of flexible strip is arranged around a fuel rod, and the strip winds the fuel rod in a wrapping mode; assembling the fuel rods wrapped with the strips into lattice cells of a grillwork through rod pulling operation; and removing the strip wrapping the fuel rod. The fuel rods are protected by wrapping the strips outside the fuel rods, and zirconium chips are prevented from being generated due to friction when the fuel rods penetrate through lattice cells of the grillwork.
