The invention provides the preparation method of the succinic anhydride modified hibiscus cannabinus straw oil absorption material which is good in oil removal performance, environment-friendly and high in adsorption rate by taking the agricultural waste hibiscus cannabinus straw as a base material. The modified hibiscus cannabinus straw oil absorption material prepared by the invention has obvious adsorption effects on vegetable oil and vegetable mixed oil, the adsorption capacities of the modified hibiscus cannabinus straw oil absorption material are 8.10 g/g and 7.24 g/g respectively and both exceed two times of that of unmodified hibiscus cannabinus straw, the oil retention rate reaches 50% or above, and the modified hibiscus cannabinus straw oil absorption material can be used as an efficient oil absorbent for purifying oil-containing mixed polluted water; m
