A controller module for a DC-DC converter includes a controller and a computer readable medium configured to store computer executable instructions configured to cause the controller to receive an input voltage, an output voltage, and a requested power value. The computer executable instructions are configured to cause the controller to: determine a primary side inter-bridge phase shift and a secondary side inter-bridge phase shift in response to a requested power value, an input voltage, and an output voltage; determining an effective phase shift value in response to the requested power value, the input voltage, the output voltage, and the primary side inter-bridge phase shift; generating a control signal for a switching device of the DC-DC converter in response to the primary side inter-bridge phase shif
