Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a method for evaluating a digital map (7), in which the following steps are carried out: detecting an environment (3) of a vehicle (1) and creating a relative map of the environment on the basis of the detected information and the relative position of detected landmarks (A, B, G, S, V) in the environment (3); -providing a global map of the environment (3) with global positions of the landmarks (A, B, G, S, V); -generating a plurality of update hypotheses for the digital map (7) on the basis of positional deviations of the landmarks (A, B, G, S, V) relative to the global position of the at least one reference object (A, B, G, S, V, 1); determining and evaluating error statistics of at least some of the positional deviations; and evaluating whether at least one update hypothesis of the digital map (7), in particular the entire digital map (7) is suitable for self-positioning of the vehicle (1), depending on the evaluation of the error statistics.
