Sorbent cellulosic materials based on low molecular weight amine surface functionalization

A composition for removing a target substance from a fluid stream is provided, the composition comprising a support material comprising cellulose, and a sorbent molecule comprising a linear or branched polyamine having a molecular weight of less than 500. The polyamine is covalently attached to the support material, and the sorbent molecule further includes a covalently attached hydrophobic group.
