Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a method for detecting and classifying objects in the surroundings of a motor vehicle, which uses only a single sensor for object detection. The method is characterized in that the individual sensor moves in space while the object is being detected. In this case, the individual sensor will function to a certain extent like a second sensor during measurement. The differential, distance, and angle can be determined using echo signals reflected by the object with different measurement periods. Thus, the method according to the invention provides the possibility of being able to classify objects and items in the surroundings of the motor vehicle by means of a single sensor according to the size of the objects and items.
