The method comprises the following steps: extracting local features of each image in a clothing image set and a retrieval image; extracting global features of each image in the clothing image set and the retrieval image; obtaining a category label of the retrieved image based on the local feature of the retrieved image; calculating global feature similarity, local feature similarity and category similarity between the retrieved image and each image in the clothing image set, and obtaining comprehensive similarity based on the three similarities; and sorting the images in the clothing image set based on the comprehensive similarity, and outputting the image with the highest comprehensive similarity.
