Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a cell stack (2) comprising a plurality of cells (9, 10, 11, 12), each cell (9, 10, 11, 12) comprising: a membrane electrode system (3) having a cathode (6), an anode (4) and a membrane (5) between the cathode and the anode; and an anode gas diffusion layer (7) or a sintered titanium component, which is arranged on the exposed side of the anode (4) and has a first thickness gradient in the machine transverse direction (y); and a cathode gas diffusion layer (8) which is arranged on the exposed side of the cathode (6) and which has a second thickness gradient in the transverse direction (y) of the machine, the anode gas diffusion layer (7) and the cathode gas diffusion layer (8) being arranged relative to each other in one cell (9, 10, 11, 12) such that the anode gas diffusion layer (7) and the cathode gas diffusion layer (8) have a second thickness gradient in the transverse direction (y) of the machine.
