Suction removal material having shaped region, method for production thereof, and use thereof

A gettering material is described that includes a shaped region having a portion configured to project at least partially into a space formed within a boundary formed by an edge of a holder of a sample grid. Methods for making such profiles and components for making the profiles are also described. Methods of removing excess liquid from a sample grid by associating the shaped gettering material with the sample grid passing through the sample grid holder are also provided.
