The invention discloses a method for determining the content of terrestrial derived components of montmorillonite with a mixed cause, which comprises the following steps: determining the mixed cause of autogenous and terrestrial derived components of montmorillonite through a scanning electron microscope (SEM), an energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS) and clay mineral X-ray diffraction, and analyzing main elements and trace elements (rare earth elements) based on the total rock and clay mineral X-ray diffraction, so as to determine the content of the terrestrial derived components in the montmorillonite with the mixed cause.
