Conformal coating of biological surfaces

The invention relates to a conformal coating of biological surfaces. The present invention provides, inter alia, ultra-thin conformally coated biological surfaces, such as living cells, cell clusters, tissues, organs, and hybrid synthetic organs; and methods of making the biological surface, e.g., using a click-reactive water-soluble polymer, under conditions that do not damage or significantly modify the biological surface.
