The method comprises the following steps: selecting a fertilization mode of a fertilizer applicator, wherein the fertilization mode comprises model fertilization and proportional fertilization; configuring fertilization parameters corresponding to the selected fertilization mode; selecting an operation mode of the fertilizer applicator, wherein the operation mode comprises intelligent irrigation and user-defined irrigation; configuring irrigation parameters corresponding to the selected operation mode; after the irrigation area is opened, a water pump is started to irrigate the irrigation area according to the selected operation mode; starting the fertilizer applicator to apply fertilizer according to the selected fertilizer application mode; after fertilization is finished, sequentially closing the fertilizer applicator and the water pump.
