Zusammenfassung:	The invention provides a liquid crystal aligning agent, a liquid crystal alignment film, a liquid crystal element, a polymer and a manufacturing method of the polymer. The liquid crystal aligning agent has high reliability relative to heat resistance and can form a liquid crystal alignment film which has good liquid crystal alignment performance even under the condition that the thickness of the liquid crystal alignment film becomes thin due to poor coating and the like. The liquid crystal aligning agent contains a polymer (P), and the polymer (P) has at least one selected from the group consisting of structural units represented by formulae (1)-(5). In formulae (1) to (5), one of X1 and X2 is a monovalent group represented by formula (6), and the other is-OR4. And R4 represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group having 1 or more carbon atoms.
