Propulsion system with multiple motors having complementary torque bands

The invention discloses a propulsion system with a plurality of motors having complementary torque bands. The propulsion system includes: a first electric machine including a first set of machine windings configured to rotate a rotor about an axis to selectively drive a transmission during a first vehicle operating condition; and a second electric machine including a second set of machine windings configured to rotate the rotor about the axis to selectively drive the transmission during at least one of the first vehicle operating condition or the second vehicle operating condition.
