Modified metal oxide particle material and method for producing same

The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a modified metal oxide particle material which is a highly dispersible metal oxide particle material; and a method for producing the modified metal oxide particle material. A modified metal oxide particle material in which a modifying material comprising a silicon-containing compound having a phenyl group is previously sandwiched between metal oxide particle materials is formed, and the modified metal oxide particle material is dispersed in a resin material or an organic solvent in this state, whereby the resin material or the organic solvent easily intrudes between the metal oxide particle materials. The dispersity can be improved. This modified metal oxide particle material comprises: a metal oxide particle material having a functional group other than a phenyl group on the surface thereof; and a modifying material that is composed of a silicon-containing compound having a phenyl group and adheres to the surface of the metal oxide particle material.
