The method comprises the following steps: S1, material distribution modeling; s2, calibration and calibration are carried out; s3, work measurement and detection; and S4, online self-learning is carried out. The system comprises a photoelectric sensor module, an intelligent measurement and control module and a man-machine interaction module. The method is based on the photoelectric sensor and an intelligent self-learning mode, the cloth thickness is detected by building the cloth model, the work efficiency and the detection accuracy of cloth thickness detection are improved, and the method meets the requirement for intelligent flexible manufacturing of modern industrial sewing.
