Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to a method, system and apparatus for geolocation using trace routing. Conventional efforts for estimating the geolocation (geolocation) of devices associated with a particular Internet Protocol (IP) address generally result in unfortunate inaccurate results. In many cases, the estimated IP geolocation is on an erroneous astray. Embodiments of the present technology include techniques for identifying and improving incorrect estimates based on latency measurements, domain name server (DNS) information, and routing information. For example, latency measurements from multiple collectors may be used to assess the plausibility of IP geolocation estimates, and in some cases, to improve the accuracy of IP geolocation estimates. The DNS and routing information may be used to validate the estimated IP geolocation. The resulting more accurate IP geolocation estimate can be used to more efficiently route Internet traffic, enforce rules of routing sensitive information, and simplify troubleshooting. |
