Low phosphorous low color polyamides

The present invention provides a low color polyamide composition comprising: a polyamide; a phosphorus-containing compound; and a carboxylic acid wherein the polyamide composition contains from 25 to 50 ppm phosphorus wherein the carboxylic acid is present at a concentration of from 1, 200 to 1,800 ppm and is selected from the group consisting of acetic acid, propionic acid, benzoic acid, phthalic acid and succinic acid and wherein the polyamide composition has a yellowness index of from-4 to-9, and articles comprising the composition.
