The invention provides a fault processing method of a road side unit (RSU), an RSU and an Internet of Vehicles system, and the fault processing method comprises the steps: when the working mode of the current RSU is a standby RSU mode, receiving a survival message sent by another corresponding RSU in the same working area through a first link, the working mode of the another RSU being a main RSU mode; when the time when the survival message is not received is greater than the preset time, sending a standby-to-master notification message for switching the master RSU mode to the standby RSU mode to the other RSU through the second link; and when a standby-to-master notification response message fed back by the other RSU through the second link is received, the working mode of the RSU is switched to the master RSU mode. According to the embodiment of the invention, whether the other RSU in the main RSU mode has a fault can be accurately and effectively judged, and when the other RSU has the fault, the main/stand
