The lump ore to be treated is dried and screened in the rotary kiln at the same time, and dried large-particle lump ore is obtained. In order to solve the problem that natural lump ore is high in moisture, the invention provides a pretreatment method for drying by directly adopting a rotary kiln; the lump ore is dried and screened in the shaft tube type rotary kiln, moisture of the lump ore is removed, and a heat source needed by drying preferably comes from hot waste gas of a steel mill. The pretreatment system and method provided by the invention are simple, practical and reliable, and are beneficial to engineering p
