The invention discloses a system for improving water quality of a straight river channel and restoring ecology. The system comprises a spur dike with one end located on a river bank and the other end extending into the river channel, a shoal located on the bank side of the river channel and a deep pool located in the river channel and close to the river bank. The spur dike sequentially comprises a top layer, a middle layer and a bottom layer from top to bottom. The top layer of the spur dike comprises an ecological blanket, emergent aquatic plants are planted on the ecological blanket, the middle layer of the spur dike comprises a filler layer, and the bottom layer of the spur dike comprises a gravel layer. Gravel piles are arranged on the shoal; submerged plants are planted in the deep pool.
