The system comprises a target detection module, an electromyographic decoding module, a motion control module and an environment monitoring module. The target detection module identifies a target human body and calculates the position of the target human body; the electromyographic decoding module collects electromyographic signals and recognizes the current gesture of an operator according to the electromyographic signals; the gesture is used for specifying expected distance and orientation of the wheelchair following a human body; the motion control module drives the wheelchair to follow the target human body according to the expected relative distance and orientation; the environment monitoring module detects position information of obstacles around the wheelchair to give a safety prompt to an operator, and the wheelchair is braked through the movement module in an emergency.
