Sealing assembly and application thereof

A sealing assembly (10) for sealing a rotating apparatus (1) comprises a dynamic sealing assembly (20) adaptable on an apparatus rotor (2) and a static sealing assembly (30) adaptable on an apparatus stator (3). A contact seal based on a sealing lip (26) and a non-contact seal based on a labyrinth gap (40) are formed between the two sealing assemblies (20, 30). The labyrinth gap (40) is located upstream of the sealing lip (26) on the path of external foreign matter entering the sealing assembly (10). An abutment (27) is formed in the labyrinth gap (40) for defining the width (h) of the labyrinth gap by its height during assembly. The rotating device can be a hub unit of a vehicle and can also be any rotating machine with a rotor and a stator as core components.
