Zusammenfassung:Provided are: an adsorbent which can be used to improve water quality, has low flammability, and can be safely used; and a method for producing the adsorbent. The adsorbent includes a porous carbide, a binder, iron powder, and a compound of a metal selected from alkali metals and alkaline earth metals. The iron powder has an average particle diameter of 20 [mu] m or more and 500 [mu] m or less. The compounds may be selected from chlorides, oxides, hydroxides, sulfates, and nitrates. The content of the porous carbide may be 20 mass% to 80 mass%, the content of the binder may be 10 mass% to 50 mass%, the content of the iron powder may be 5 mass% to 35 mass%, and the content of the metal may be 1 mass% to 10 mass%. 本发明提供一种能够用于改善水质、可燃性低、能够安全地使用的吸附剂及其制造方法。该吸附剂包括多孔碳化物、粘合剂、铁粉和选自碱金属和碱土金属的金属的化合物。铁粉的平均粒径为20μm以上且500μm以下。上述化合物可以选自氯化物、氧化物、氢氧化物、硫酸盐和硝酸盐。多孔碳化物的含量可以为20质量%以上且80质量%以下,粘合剂的含量可以为10质量%以上且50质量%以下,铁粉的含量可以为5质量%以上且35质量%以下,金属的含量可以为1质量%以上且10质量%以下。
