The medium manganese steel comprises the following chemical components in percentage by weight: 0.9 to 1.2 percent of C, 7.5 to 8.5 percent of Mn, 0.55 to 0.65 percent of Si, 0.01 to 0.15 percent of Ti, 1.5 to 2.5 percent of Cr, 0.2 to 0.4 percent of Mo, 0.1 to 0.2 percent of V, less than or equal to 0.003 percent of S, less than or equal to 0.005 percent of P and the balance of Fe and impurities. According to the medium manganese steel prepared through the method, good impact toughness is kept, and meanwhile the hardness of the medium manganese steel is improved.
