Method for applying aerodynamic functional film

The invention relates to a method for applying an aerodynamically functional film to a body around which a complex flow occurs, such as on a commercial aircraft. The method comprises the following steps:-determining a flow line (4) on a surface (7) of the body on which a flow occurs for a predetermined ambient flow condition, based on a computer model (1) of the body, using a numerical flow simulation; unfolding at least one surface section (3) of the computer model (1) to form a two-dimensional surface, wherein the surface section is provided with a streamline (4); positioning the at least one coherent field (10, 20, 30, 40) in the expanded surface section (3) by means of a local flow direction such that the local flow direction readable on the flow line (4) is within a predetermined angular range with respect to the main flow direction of the coherent field (10, 20, 30, 40); and-applying an aerodynamically functional film to the surrounding body in the field boundary (10.1-4, 11.1-4, 12.1-4, 13.1-4) of at l
