Extended release plastic formula

A plastic material for extended release of a bioactive agent, the plastic material comprising a structural polymer, at least one bioactive ingredient embedded within the structural polymer as a solid island, a liquid binding material embedded within the structural polymer as particles, and a carrier liquid absorbed within the liquid-absorbing material. The carrier liquid may be sufficiently incompatible with the structural polymer such that at least a portion of the carrier liquid is released from the liquid-absorbing material through the structural polymer to the outer surface of the plastic material for a period of time, such as more than one week, more than one month, or about three months.
