The present technology relates to a reception terminal and a method capable of realizing stable audio transmission regardless of a device. The reception terminal: receives a packet transmitted from the transmission terminal, the packet including master data and redundant data, the redundant data being generated on the basis of redundancy, the redundancy being determined on the basis of a retransmission timeout period, the retransmission timeout period being a time determined by a combination of the transmission terminal and the reception terminal and allowing retransmission processing of the master data to be repeatedly executed, and the retransmission timeout period being determined by a combination of the transmission terminal and the reception terminal; the redundant data is used for recovering or interpolating the main data; and decoding the reproduced data by decoding the master data or the redundant data.
