The present invention relates to a disc brake for a commercial vehicle, comprising: a brake caliper configured as a sliding caliper spanning a brake disc; two brake linings (3), which are arranged in the brake caliper and can be moved in opposite directions towards the brake disc and each have a lining carrier plate (4) and a friction lining (5) fastened thereto, the brake linings are arranged in a lining shaft of the vehicle-side brake carrier delimited by a brake carrier angle in the direction of rotation of the brake disc under the preload of a lining retaining spring (10) on which a lining retaining bracket, which is held on the brake caliper and spans the mounting opening of the brake caliper, is supported; and a return device by means of which the brake linings (3) can be drawn back after a movement and release of the brake caused by braking, the return device having elastic spreading elements (6) which act on the opposite brake linings (3) and which act identically against the respective pressing direc
