A system for use with an inhaler includes an actuator housing. The system includes a speaker disposed within the actuator housing. The speaker is configured for emitting acoustic pulses during use of the inhaler by a patient. The system also includes a microphone disposed within the actuator housing. The microphone is configured to receive a reflected sound generated in response to the sound pulse. The system also includes a controller that is communicatively coupled to the microphone.
