Zusammenfassung:Provided is a refractory material which is not impregnated with asphalt or the like and which has higher corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance than an impregnated product such as asphalt or the like. Specifically, the refractory material of the present invention is characterized in that, in a refractory material not impregnated with tar or pitch, the apparent porosity of a refractory material sample after heat treatment in a non-oxidizing atmosphere at 1200 DEG C is 7% or less, and the apparent porosity of the refractory material sample after heat treatment in a non-oxidizing atmosphere at 1200 DEG C is 7% or less.
