IMPLANT WITH PROTECTED FUSION REGION

The present application relates to an implant having a protected fusion region, and in particular to an implant for use in a spinal column, comprising a body and a plurality of structural members. The plurality of structural members includes an outer member arranged to contact a vertebra when implanted and a support member providing enhancement and stability to the outer member. The outer member may have a portion with a generalized helical geometry.
