A battery system according to the present invention comprises: a battery; and a BMS that controls charging of the battery in accordance with a normal mode that uses a first battery capacity between a first lower limit SOC (state of charge) and a first upper limit SOC, the first lower limit SOC being smaller than the second lower limit SOC, and an eco-mode that uses a second battery capacity between a second upper limit SOC and the second lower limit SOC, the first lower limit SOC being smaller than the second lower limit SOC, and the second upper limit SOC being smaller than the second lower limit SOC.
