Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for removing mercaptans from syngas. Thiol and optionally thiophene and carbon disulfide are absorbed in a specialized absorption stage using methanol as a physical absorption medium. At least the methanol loaded with mercaptans is removed from mercaptans in a stripping phase using methanol vapor as stripping gas, and the mercaptans containing methanol vapor are removed from methanol in a scrubbing phase.
